When you talk about Bay Area music you have to mention DJ Pizo, he is as legendary as the artists he has DJ’d and produced for including: Tony Toni Tone , Too Short, Spice 1 and most recently E-40.
From the conception of the bay Area sound, DJ Pizo has had his hands in on the whole situation, with songs such as “Feels Good”(Tony Toni Tone), “Short But Funky”(Too Short), “187 Proof”(Spice 1) just to name a few. As E-40’s DJ , Pizo toured for 10 years.
DJ Pizo AKA “The Beat Fixer” was raised in the Bay Area town of Hayward , California. The grandson of successful jazz musician Que Martyn, Pizo was influenced and gained a diverse sound and abilities which can be found when hearing his legendary style and mixing abilities. His other influences came from DJ Cut Creator, DJ Howie T and DJ Scratch. DJ Pizo has the uncanny ability to locate sounds others overlook when sampling. This legendary DJ is truly a quadruple threat.
Beyond his talent as a DJ, Pizo also writes , produces and raps as displayed in his albums Rollin a Drop, released in 1996 and Built For This , released in 2003. Current projects include Spice 1’s new album Home Street Home and his Yard Full of Pits project. Keep your eyes and ears open for some surprises……..Pizo is far from done!!!
